We . Are . One
‘All land is one country.’ He spoke with knowingness, a sense of wisdom. His whole being exuded connection to an ancient culture.
‘Can you explain what you mean?’ I asked.
‘Well, you standing here on your land and someone standing across the sea on their land - you are both standing on the same land. It is joined. Because even though a sea may separate you, below the sea, the land is joined.’
I paused and let that sink in.
Yes. So. It. Is.
My mind began to fill with images of other people, of refugees searching for a new land, of borders and visas and rules. The constraints and results of treating each other as separate instead of ONE humanity.
What could, would our world be like if we viewed one another as part of ONE humanity?
If we shared rather than divided?
If we supported rather than opposed?
If we listened rather than ignored?
