Dog . Lessons
I think it wouldn’t hurt if sometimes I took a few lessons from my dog, Banjo.
No matter the day, the time, the weather - should a suggestion be made for that magic word ‘walk’ he is up in a flash - enthusiastic, ready, focused. He doesn’t turn around and say ‘No, I think I’ll finish this nap and go later.’
No, he bounds at the opportunity and makes the absolute most of it.
A walk along the beach chasing the waves? Great!
A walk around the block for a quick stretch? Fantastic!
A walk at the local park for some doggy socialising? Wonderful!
Whatever is on offer he truly lives in the moment and oozes exuberance in every gait and wag. It brings me immense joy to see and share in his joie de vivre.
I know that Banjo is the Yoda to my Luke Skywalker when it comes to mastering the art of being ‘truly present’. I am so very grateful to have such a Master in my life.
